A Classic, Rustic Wedding at a Private Residence in Imperial Beach, California

This wedding was decked out in accents of burlap and lace, which brought the classic rustic style of the occasion to life—starting right on the sand in Imperial Beach, California. “The only thing I wanted was to have our toes in the sand when we said 'I do,' and we did just that,” Jolynn Mills (25 and in food and beverage) says of her marriage to Joseph Lakeman (30 and a driver). “We did a burlap and lace theme, with a simple sparkle of string lights throughout the backyard—what a dream come true!” Jolynn picked out a strapless ivory Maggie Sottero dress, which had a V-neckline bodice accented in beaded crystals that embodied elegance on the day of the wedding. Jennifer Demo Photography captured the romantic setting at the beach ceremony, where folding chairs decorated with white rose pomanders and starfish led up to the wedding arch draped with white linens. The reception took place at an offsite private location in Coronado, California, where rustic accents filled the entire space—from the four wine bottles covered in rope that spelled out "Love" with fabric flowers and beads, to the burlap napkins accented with a strip of lace at each table setting—thanks to the help of Dream Beach Weddings. In addition to the small cake used for cutting, we loved Jolynn and Joseph's spin on traditional cake pops that guests went crazy for. "We served a new dessert called 'cake push-pops'—not to be confused with cake pops," Jolynn says. "We had five flavors, so everyone got a little taste. The best part was that no one had to cut the cake all night."
