A Classic Purple Wedding at the Hawthorne House in Parkville, Missouri
Rachel Crawford (27 and a dental hygienist) and Jon Carmicheal (26 and a solutions integrator) met at Union Station through their bible study groups. The couple exchanged vows at the picturesque Hawthorne House. Before the wedding, the couple took a trip to the UK where they toured London, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. They were so impressed by the history, traditions and beauty that they decided to incorporate Celtic elements into their wedding. But, because Rachel loves rich colors, she decided to add her own little twist to the traditions. Instead of using the usually green plaid, she used shades of blue, purple and pink. The plaid bridesmaid dresses, matching table runners and pocket squares were handmade by the bride’s family. The ceremony took place in a quaint white chapel with stained glass windows and the bride processed to a bagpipe version of “For the Love of a Princess” (the theme from Braveheart). They worked with florist Andrea Grist to bring the couple’s vision to life with lush purple floral arrangements. At the reception, Hawthorne House catered dijon chicken, lasagna florentine and beef with green beans, garlic mashed potatoes and a house salad. Rachel and Jon danced to “Marry Me” by Train for their first dance and exited their perfect day in a classic getaway car.
