A Classic Purple Wedding at Elmira College in Elmira, NY

Kara and Michael have known each other since high school, but it wasn’t until after college that Michael acted on his feelings for Kara. They got engaged on St. Patricks day, exactly one year after they started dating. When he proposed Mike used the exact wording Rocky Balboa used to propose to Adrian, which is a nod to his love of movies. The wedding took place over Easter weekend, and the decor was inspired by a “homegrown garden” vibe. For the setting they chose Elmira College, which Kara and Mike chose because of the stunning architecture. “ The ceremony and cocktail hour was held in the newly renovated Peterson Chapel in Cowles Hall which holds gorgeous craftsmanship and stained glass windows. The reception was just across the street in the newest building on campus, Meier Hall. We loved that both of these locations spoke for themselves and minimal decoration was needed,” says Kara.
