A Classic Purple Wedding at Brookside Gardens in Berthoud, Colorado
Amber Baker (26) and Rob Robinson (23) met in high school through Amber’s little brother. After almost seven years, Rob proposed in the living room of the house they bought together. “I was in shock to say the least. I even asked, ‘Is this for real?’ before saying, ‘Yes!’” The couple decided to get married at Brookside Gardens in Berthoud, Colorado. They fell in love with the vineyard-inspired gardens, small waterfalls and lush groves. With all of the natural beauty, they decided to keep their wedding simple. They chose the bride’s favorite color, purple, as the main color and used it in everything from the flowers to the attire to the wedding favors. But, the best part was the delicious menu! They served a trio of meatballs and bruschetta during cocktail hour and dinner was a buffet-style of garden salad, beef brisket with bourbon sauce, grilled chicken with chardonnay sauce, parmesan and garlic mashed potatoes, scalloped corn, fresh fruit and rolls with butter. They enjoyed a three-tier buttercream cake made by the bride’s mother. At the end of the night they did the bouquet toss to all the married men (instead of the single female guests) and wrapped the garter around a football for the garter toss. “We are fun, easygoing and laid back, which is just what our wedding was,” Amber says.
