A Classic Plum Wedding at the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin, Illinois
Using a plum, peach and ivory color palette, Emily Allums (23 and a physician assistant graduate student) and Karl Lindblad (24 and an athletic trainer) had a classic wedding. Their day started with a traditional ceremony in the church Emily grew up in—Westminster Presbyterian Church—and ended with a wild dance party at the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin, Illinois. They loved how their country-club reception was so accommodating, especially since they had only four months to plan their nuptials. “The club itself has a refined yet homey atmosphere, and their staff, particularly Tim, was amazing to work with, and so helpful,” Emily says. “I would recommend it to anyone. Also, for someone like me, who hates planning and fretting over minute details, the club was fantastic. They provide the caterer—you just choose the menu—and the bar service and send you to this lovely bakery to choose whatever you'd like. It was honestly the least stressful part of the planning process.” Wanting to add a little romance and personality throughout the decor, the couple worked with Debi's Designs to create the lush floral arrangements. Our favorite detail? Emily’s classic lace wedding dress by Watters, which she found it at Vanessa’s Modern Bride in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She loved that the boutique was by appointment only, so there weren’t other brides there at the same time she was. “Vanessa’s also had the most talented seamstress, and she made that dress fit like a glove, which as we all know, is imperative to wearing a strapless gown that weighs as much as a small child,” Emily says.
