A Classic Pink and Teal Wedding at St. Charles Country Club in St. Charles, Illinois
Newlyweds Marie Spear (24 and a teacher) and Brian Bollinger (25 and an investment analyst) met as second graders before reuniting in high school as prom dates. "I wore a bubblegum pink dress," Marie laughs. "And yes, it was just as ridiculous as you could possibly imagine." The two began dating after leaving for separate colleges, only to get engaged during the summer of 2013 after Marie's birthday dinner. "He proposed the same way he asked me to prom – with a romantic poem and a rose outside of my house," she explains. For their classic June wedding in St. Charles, the couple wed in a traditional church ceremony before celebrating with family and friends at the St. Charles Country Club. "The venue had a veranda for guests as well as plenty of room for everyone," the bride says. Thanks to a punchy color palette of fuchsia and teal, the newlyweds wove romantic elements into their big day – including pops of pink in both the bouquets and the bride's custom-designed glitter heels. Teal table runners were accented with pink rose petals and crystals while lanterns of the same hue hung from the ceiling. To complete the elegant look of the reception, guests were seated in silver chiavari chairs that added just the right amount of metallic flair to the space. The newlyweds (and Butler basketball fans) even encouraged guests to sink a basket on the dance floor prior to requesting that the couple share a kiss. "We had a basketball hoop where guests could try to make a basket," Marie says. "If they did, then we had to kiss."
