A Classic, Pastel Wedding at Riverside Yacht Club in Riverside, Connecticut
Subtle pops of lavender and hundreds of sweet peas lent a romantic feel to Wesley Royce (30 and a project manager) and Patrick Conlisk’s (32 and a finance manager) timeless wedding. “I couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere but the same church where I had grown up singing in the choir,” Wesley says of their choice to say “I do” at her childhood church. Live trees and an abundance of greenery showcased the classic wood details of the parish. For the ceremony, Wesley donned a vintage veil made by her grandmother nearly 70 years ago. Lavender sweet peas popped against a muted cluster of ranunculus, stephanotis and tuberose. Pastel sugar flowers bedecked the fondant-covered dessert, which consisted of alternating tiers of chocolate chiffon, vanilla praline and dulce de leche cake. “After searching for the perfect cake topper, I asked for our baker to just add flowers on top,” Wesley says. “It was an important lesson to let go of some of the details.” Local microbrews were on tap during cocktail hour, along with a mint lemonade prosecco cocktail cleverly dubbed the Connecticut Crush. After surprising family and friends with a late-night pizza delivery from Frank Pepe’s, the newlyweds ended the night with a bang, thanks to a dazzling fireworks display.
