The effortless feel of a Parisian garden party served as the main inspiration behind Nathalie Walton (31 and works in business development) and Max Carter-Oberstone’s (31 and a lawyer) Sonoma celebration.“We spent a lot of time in the south of France during the summer of our engagement,” Nathalie says. “The experience was elegant yet comfortable, and I wanted to bring the theme of an outdoor garden party to our friends and family.” Max’s midnight-blue tuxedo was a formal pairing with Nathalie’s fitted A-line gown. After exchanging their vows in front of 75 guests, Nathalie and Max jumped the broom and then headed straight to their reception, where partygoers sipped signature Dark & Stormys and St-Germain and champagne cocktails. The bride’s father—a bass player—joined in on the jazz band’s cocktail hour performance. French-blue details in the form of escort cards, ribbon-wrapped arrangements and tapered candles were woven into the day’s design, and custom invitations boasted a crest based on a design Nathalie saw in Nice. Silver dollar eucalyptus and swaths of white fabric adorned chiavari chairs.
