A Classic Outdoor Wedding at Hahn Horticulture Garden in Blacksburg, Virginia

Hahn Horticulture Garden on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, had the natural setting perfect for this outdoor wedding, and also held sentimental value to Suzanne Lo (30 and in research at Virginia Tech) and Dan Diaczok (36 and a medical school graduate of Virginia Tech). Instead of changing the surrounding landscape to fit their theme, Suzanne and Dan let the garden shape the nuptials' classic style. The wedding party embodied pinks and grays that reflected the palette, from light pink flower girl dresses with darker pink sashes to slate gray bridesmaid dresses varying in length and style. Little to no decor was added to the natural outdoor space where Suzanne and Dan had their ceremony, standing with their bridal party under a large tree surrounded by the woodland. Suzanne's vibrant bouquet, created by Stonecrop Farm, popped with color through a variety of poppies, dianthus, peonies and many other blooms. Guests enjoyed their meals served family style at long white-covered dining tables, where small poppy flower arrangements surrounded plates of food that served as the main centerpieces. The chocolate-covered strawberries, blueberry crumble bar and mango marshmallows displayed on the dessert table made our mouths water, but the two-tier wedding cake topped them all—filled with citrus chiffon, fresh raspberry, and citrus buttercream and covered in white fondant.
