A Classic, Outdoor Wedding at Albert River Wines in Tamborine, Queensland

"My first impression of him was that of a gentleman with a quick smile who made me laugh," says Katherine (28 and a town planner) of her first interaction with her future husband, Kris (29 and a real estate agent). "Some things are just meant to be and we were barely apart after that first meeting." Three years after that first meeting, the couple got engaged during a trip to the Hunter Valley wine region in New South Wales. "He proposed after a helicopter ride over the vineyards and a champagne breakfast at the Peterson House," the bride says. "It absolutely took my breath away." While planning their outdoor wedding set for April, the couple knew they wanted a venue with a view. "We needed something outside and couldn't have found a better venue than at Albert River Wines," Katherine explains. "Our ceremony was in a gazebo overlooking the vines and the reception was just a short walk away to the enormous veranda at the Tamborine House." Dressed in a strapless, lace Mia Solano gown from Luv Bridal, Katherine accessorized her look with borrowed elements from family members. "I included a bow detail as a connection to my sister's wedding dress as well as my great-grandma's engagement ring (a ring my grandma gave me on my graduation). I even wore a pearl necklace borrowed from my mom," the bride says. "Family is incredibly important to me, so it was very special having four generations present in my wedding day look." The couple kept the entire look of the day, captured by Ben & Hope Photography, simple thanks to a palette of navy and white paired with splashed of pink and gray. A florist friend even created the arrangements while the bride herself designed the stationary. "It was a very happy labor of love," Katherine says. "But the most special element of our day was the ceremony. Kris and I both are close to our families, so it was important to ensure that they were involved. Our celebrant including a "Warming of the Rings" ritual where our bands were passed among our family members; each holding them for a moment and warming them with their love before passing it off to the next person. It was a really fun day filled with laughs and love."
