A Classic Wedding at Petroleum Club in Houston, Texas

Alyson Ilustre (27 and a dental student) and Tyler Hemann (27 and in sales) like to believe that they did not meet by chance. They both grew up in Houston, attended some of the same events in high school, attended the University of Texas at Austin and were even in a small extracurricular organization together, but they didn’t meet until they began working together at a small orthodontic office in Houston. “Tyler and I made such a great team that my work days were always so much fun,” says Alyson. Soon, their friendship blossomed into romantic interest, and though Alyson tried to keep their relationship strictly work-related, she never regretted giving Tyler a chance. Tyler proposed in City Centre with the couple’s song playing over the loudspeakers. As native Houstonians, Alyson and Tyler wanted to be married in their hometown where the majority of their family members live. They had a traditional church ceremony at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the Petroleum Club of Houston. “Tyler and I have always been drawn to old school flair and classic elegance, which was the inspiration behind our wedding,” says Alyson. As proud graduates of the University of Texas, bright and bold shades of orange filled the venue in their floral arrangements and decor. At the reception, the couple thrilled guests with a foxtrot first dance followed by a surprise performance by the bride, who sang Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years” for her groom. “Tyler and I wanted our wedding to be a lively and fun event, and our photographs say just that!” says Alyson.
