A Classic Neutral-Colored Wedding at Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri
Very little color was used in Abigail Blick (25 and a registered nurse) and Grant Hromas’s (27 and an architect) classic, neutral-colored wedding. Instead, they used a timeless black, ivory and graphite color palette (groom’s choice!) and added lush floral details from Beco Flowers for a romantic touch. Since Abigail’s entire family is Catholic, the ceremony location was an easy choice. The couple loved Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church because it was a little smaller than most of the other Kansas City churches, so it felt more intimate and personal. Choosing the reception, however, was one of the more difficult decisions of planning their wedding. They decided on Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art because of how unique it is. “The museum, without many decor additions at all, is stunning,” she says. “The museum provided the wedding party with an amazing entrance down a long ramp into cocktail hour, and then transitioned up a grand stairwell, with actual artwork viewed along the way, to the reception room. The tile floor, eight granite columns and more than 30-foot-high ceilings let the candles glow throughout the entire room. It was the most magical setting we could have asked for.” At the end of the night, Galaxy Band from St. Louis, Missouri, performed 60s, 70s and 80s music (per the couple’s request) and guests were given glow sticks to help the dance floor glow.
