A Classic, Neutral-Colored Wedding at Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri
Katie Kellogg (27 and a special education teacher) and Matt Schwiebert’s (26 and a solution architect for Cerner) classic wedding radiated romance with their neutral color palette of champagne and blush. They decided to have a traditional Lutheran ceremony at Atonement Lutheran in downtown Kansas City since they were already members and loved how beautiful and modern it was (especially with the metallic gold sun hanging from the ceiling!). Katie and Matt wanted their reception downtown Kansas City so their out-of-town guests (she’s from Iowa, and he’s from Oklahoma) could enjoy the city views. Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown fit the ticket perfectly with its top floor, round ballroom covered in floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown. They added some unique, personal touches throughout the decor such as baby bath pictures of the couple on the bathroom doors. At the end of the night, Katie and Matt enjoyed a five-tier white fondant wedding cake from Baked Expressions, which was topped with lush flowers from Andrea K. Grist Floral Designs. One of the best parts was the surprise YMCA dance at the reception where the couple’s fathers and uncles dressed up like the Village People. “It was a great surprise that had everyone up on their feet,” Katie says.
