A Classic Navy Wedding at Coronado Ballroom in St. Louis, Missouri
Megan Hornof (27 and a teacher of the deaf) and Henry Samson (27 and an English teacher) met in middle school, but didn’t date until 11 years later when they ran into each other at church. A year later, Henry proposed while Megan was getting into the car. For their wedding, the couple had a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Ambrose on the Hill Catholic Church, which was across the street from where they had their first date. Also, Henry’s brother is a priest in Rome, so they had a summer wedding so he could come to St. Louis to officiate the wedding (it was his first one!). Afterwards, Megan and Henry chose the Coronado Ballroom for its art deco design. Since they’re both teachers, they had a chalkboard guestbook that guests signed with chalk paint pens. It now hangs in their home for a nice reminder of the day. Megan and Henry decorated the reception tables with simple white hydrangea centerpieces and the black, white and gold table numbers matched the art deco venue. They used a navy and green color palette for a simple, classic look, and added gold and white accents throughout. At the end of the night, they enjoyed a four-tier vanilla sponge cake with white chocolate mousse layered with salted caramel and sprinkled with toasted macadamia nuts. It was topped with blush buttercream cake decorated with cascading scabiosa and hypericum berries so it was as gorgeous as it was delicious.
