A Classic Navy and Gold Winter Wedding at Ironwoods Lodge in Leawood, Kansas

Ashley Clark (27 and a teacher) and Dustin Gray (29 and an engineer) met at the University of Notre Dame at a football game. After dating for seven years, Dustin proposed with Ashley’s annual back-to-school gift. For their wedding, the couple chose to have a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas. “The church is absolutely beautiful, and we really grew to love our priest and all that he could bring to our lives during the months leading up to the wedding as well as after we were married,” Ashley says. The newlyweds left the church through their guests waving navy and gold ribbons and bells and used Horizon Limousine to get to their reception at Ironwoods Lodge. “This venue brings a rustic element that tied into traditional elegance very well,” Ashley says. “The inside has beautiful stone pillars which we lit up with amber uplighting that really brought warmth and a soft golden glow to the space.” They used a classic navy and gold color palette both to be seasonally appropriate and to represent the school colors of where they met. Ashley and Dustin worked with Eco Posh Events to create the lush white hydrangea and rose floral arrangements to add a pop of simple romance to the otherwise rustic space. At the end of the night, the couple enjoyed a four-tier lace fondant wedding cake and danced to Elite Sounds Entertainment Group. Instead of traditional wedding favors, Ashley and Dustin made a donation to a local animal shelter.
