A Classic Mountain Wedding at The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek, Colorado

Jessica Zofnass (27 and works in finance) and Colin Barclay (28 and works in strategic development) met as undergraduates at Harvard. Colin proposed on a beach in Bali while they were backpacking through Southeast Asia. Loving the time they spent in Colorado skiing and vacationing, they decided it was the perfect place for a weekend getaway full of hiking, drinking and having fun. The chose The Ritz-Carlton for its perfect balance between rustic mountains and classic elegance. Jessica and Colin exchanged vows on a ski bridge with the lush green mountains as the backdrop. Not wanting to overpower the swoon-worthy views, they kept decor to a minimum with a rustic wooden wedding arbor accented with pink hydrangeas to match the bridesmaid bouquets. Afterwards, they had their cocktail hour on the hotel’s patio as the sun set over the green ski slopes. Wanting to continue the classic mountain theme, they decorated the reception with white linens, pink hydrangea centerpieces and soft pink uplighting for a romantic feel. Inspired by the mountains and summer season, they used a royal blue and blush pink color palette with lush greenery and gorgeous flowers everywhere. For dinner, they served three different regional foods from their favorite places: dumplings, pad thai and sushi from Asia; pizza and ravioli from Italy; and roast beef, salad and bread from the United States. If that wasn’t enough, they had a four-tier vanilla and chocolate pound cake with chocolate mousse filling, buttercream icing and blue hydrangea sugar flowers and an ice cream sundae bar. The band, Soul X, set the tone for a wild dance party into the night.
