With a tongue-in-cheek, black-and-white theme, Emilee Elizabeth Taylor (29 and an English instructor) and Jeffrey Lyndon Brown Gaulding (30 and a service specialist at Fidelity Investments) designed a modern wedding that was comfortable for friends and family. Though the couple didn’t add much décor-wise to their chapel ceremony—“The wow factor was already there,” Emilee says—they did make the occasion their own by playing songs from The Princess Bride, The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. The party then regrouped at a modern art museum for an elegant affair. At the museum, the couple’s white flowers brought an element of romance, while warm chocolate chip cookies and milk added to the fun. “The black-and-white dance floor was a huge hit,” Emilee says. Deviating from the color scheme, the couple’s first dance was to “La Vie en Rose” by Louis Armstrong.
