Neha (27 and the founder and CEO of Little Journey) and Pinak (28 and an entrepreneur) had an elaborate, weekend-long Hindu celebration in Chicago, Illinois. Neha had originally wanted a destination wedding, but with a guest list of 650—and five wedding-related events—the couple kept their celebration local. “Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort felt like a destination wedding, and the golf course was a beautiful setting to take pictures,” Neha says. They hired a wedding planner to bring their vision to life—a glamorous and romantic gray, white and gold theme with a focus on “family, friends and love.” After a series of traditional Hindu events, it was time for the wedding. Pinak arrived at the ceremony in a white Maybach, while his family and friends danced and celebrated. Then it was Neha's turn. She looked radiant in deep red as her maternal uncles walked her down a white velvet aisle, lined in mirrored glass boxes and candles, to the custom orchid-decorated mandap. Musician Josh Vietti, whom the couple first heard while on vacation in California, played the violin (a surprise arranged by Pinak). It was “the best wedding present,” Neha says. The bride's parents, aunt and uncle performed the Hindu ceremonies, followed by a reception at the same venue. Guests enjoyed dinner and dancing in a room lit with soft white lights and candles. The most memorable part of the meal was the dessert station, featuring 5,000 dessert pieces. The most memorable part of the reception was a surprise dance performed by the wedding party, with Pinak joining in. “I was in shock, and I loved it,” Neha says. “We were surrounded by so much love.” —Chrissy Sorenson

Neha designed the white and gold invitations, programs and escort cards herself. The front listed “The Wedding” and “The Reception,” and the back included event details.
Neha's accessories included bangle bracelets, a necklace, a red bridal lehenga and gold shoes.
The morning of the wedding, Pinak surprised Neha with a goldendoodle puppy, which she had dreamed of owning for years. He wrote a sentimental message in a card. “At the end of the card, he talked about how he can't wait to start a life and a family with me and that today is the day we grow our family—with Wesley,” Neha says. “All of a sudden, the cutest red goldendoodle came running to me. There wasn't a dry eye in the room.”
Pinak told Neha, “You have shown me what it means to live and love and to give my heart fully. Words can't describe how happy you make me.”
A custom mandap featured drapery, three hanging chandeliers and fresh orchids.
Each mirror box featured a cylinder vase with candles, gold succulents and gold birchwood.
The couple exchanged garlands as part of the traditional Hindu wedding ceremony.
The tradition of painting of henna designs on the bride's hands was an integral part of cultural celebrations.
“I wanted my reception dress to be classy,” Neha says. She selected a gray designer dress with a bottom-layer skirt in gold lace and gray overlay with hand-done threading. She wore a cap-sleeve top decorated in threading and beadwork. She describes her hair style as “old-school Hollywood waves.”
A structured round white bouquet of roses added a touch of elegance to Neha's gray gown.
The groomsmen wore white kurtas with gray dupatta, and the bridesmaids wore gray sarees with gold lace blouses.

Orchids made for a glamorous wedding centerpiece.
"Our dessert station was amazing," Neha says. There were 5,000 bite-size desserts for guests to sample as the night wore on.
The white wedding cake—with silver and gold accents—was inspired by marble. Fresh orchids decorated the masterpiece.
Neha and Pinak’s first dance was “Magic” by Coldplay, a song they listened to when they got engaged in Aruba.
