A Fall Military Wedding at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Ashland, Nebraska
Amanda Reyes and Matthew Bliley met in Air Force pilot training, so their wedding naturally revolved around airplanes. For starters, they tied the knot at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Ashland. “Two years before the wedding, we visited and jokingly said we should get married there—and so we did,” Amanda says. “We chose fall, since the weather is beautiful and the leaves are equally as pretty. We wanted to combine both our styles into a modern ,rustic feel with wine colors, gold and white accents, and plenty of greenery to match the season.” Amanda wore an ivory, formfitting A-line gown with embroidered lace over satin and a sweetheart neckline. Her fall-inspired bouquet included white roses, blush dahlias, blush astilbe and burgundy garden roses with rustic greenery. Matthew opted for his Air Force mess dress, and he added personalized red squadron socks. The ceremony, officiated by one of the couple's closest friends, took place in the museum in front of Matthew's favorite plane, the SR-71 Blackbird. The following reception had plenty of DIY elements and an elegant single-tier cake.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: “The most special moment between us both was definitely our first look,” the bride says. “It helped calm our nerves having each other there, and it also reminded us that our love for each other mattered more than the caterer being on time or décor being put in the correct spot.”
