rn Hannah Schneider (28 and a brand marketer) and Jordan Cealy (28 and a corporate strategist) attended Augustana College in Iowa, together for three years before crossing paths during a study-abroad program in Asia. “We started dating in Tokyo and spent the first few months of our relationship traveling Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China,” Hannah says. “When we got engaged, we knew right away that we would have an Augie wedding.” After a Catholic ceremony at the campus’s Ascension Chapel, the couple and their 140 guests crossed the Mississippi River, to the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, for a contemporary-meets-classic reception. “We chose the Figge Art Museum because of its beautiful view of the Mississippi and the contemporary feel of the space,” Hannah says. “Our guests, who mostly came from Chicago, remarked that they couldn't believe they were in Iowa.” The palette for the day was a subtle combo of warm golds and neutrals, romantic candlelight and plenty of white blooms. “I have always been drawn to white florals because they look so soft and timeless,” Hannah says. “We worked with our florist to choose florals that had a romantic look and would hold up well in the summer heat: Italian ruscus, blizzard roses and white lisianthus.” Says Hannah: “Don't be afraid to break tradition or do something a bit differently. We didn't follow traditions that weren't meaningful to us. We kept the focus on creating a really fun celebration.” —Carolyn Meers

Hannah gave Jordan a pair of gold cuff links engraved with the Augustana College crest and a black leather and gold watch from Coach.
Hannah's rings were subtle and chic, well suited to her and Jordan's classic-meets-modern wedding at Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa.
When Hannah found her short-sleeve BHLDN dress, the elegant classic-meets-modern wedding theme began to come together. "As soon as I tried it on, I could see our entire wedding: Jordan looking handsome in his tux and us dancing at the Figge," Hannah says.
"My bridesmaids wore the Annabelle by Jenny Yoo in Mayan Blue," Hannah says. "I absolutely loved the soft, dreamy look of the skirts and that each bridesmaid could adjust the neckline to make the dress her own."
Flowers by Staacks crafted Hannah's white blossom bouquets. "I have always been drawn to white florals because they look so soft and timeless," Hannah says. "We worked with our florist to choose florals that had a romantic look and would hold up well in the summer heat: Italian ruscus, blizzard roses and white lisianthus."
Jordan and his groomsmen donned classic black tuxedos from the Black Tux shop.
Hannah and Jordan, who attended Augustana College as undergrads, had a traditional Catholic ceremony at the campus chapel.
The setting's gold and ivory palette of the Augustana Campus chapel needed little additional decor.
Instead of a guest book, the travel-loving couple—who met during a study-abroad program in Japan—had guests sign a white and gold globe.
Greenery like eucalyptus, dusty miller and Italian ruscus was used to decorate dining tables at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa.
Hannah and Jordan provided an easy-to-understand guide to the Wedding Cake Connection cupcakes in the cupcake tower.
In another modern touch, Hannah and Jordan had a small cutting cake placed on a tower of cupcakes for their guests. Additional desserts included key lime pie.
“Don't be afraid to break tradition or do something a bit differently," says Hannah, who changed into Nikes after her and Jordan's first dance. "We didn't follow traditions that weren't meaningful to us and kept the focus on creating a really fun celebration.”
"After our first dance, I changed into a pair of gold and white Nike Air Max 90 laser-engraved with Chicago imagery—a nod to my five-year career at Nike and our home city," Hannah says. "They were so comfortable, and I got compliments on the dance floor all night."
