Deven Dougherty (30 and a teacher’s assistant) and Stephen Hough (28) met while they were both vacationing in Las Vegas. But, Stephen was living in England and Deven was living in Missouri. They took turns visiting each other for four years. During the second year, Stephen proposed. After dinner and a show in London, they returned to their room where candles, rose petals and champagne waited for them. He got down on one knee and Deven said yes through her tears. They exchanged vows at the Riverbend Chapel in Washington, Missouri. They loved the venue on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River. They loved it so much they didn’t even decorate the ceremony site. Afterwards, they moved into a simple, romantic reception decorated with white and blush linens and pink peony centerpieces. They used sage green, ivory and blush throughout their wedding for a soft, romantic color palette. The bride carried a lush bouquet in the wedding colors and the bridesmaids carried all-white peony bouquets. For dinner, they had chicken parmesan, vegetables and salad and topped it off with a vanilla and raspberry swirl wedding cake from Wedding Wonderland. With their mutual love for music, their favors were CDs with all their favorite love songs.

Deven wore a classic one-shoulder ball gown from David’s Bridal. It was adorned with crystal embellishments across the bodice, down the train and on the shoulder. Her veil was borrowed from Stephen’s sister.

The bride carried roses, peonies, hydrangea and baby’s breath in her lush bouquet.
The bridesmaids wore chiffon cocktail dresses with a crumbcatcher neckline from David’s Bridal. Two of the dresses were sage an two were soft pink.

The groomsmen wore taupe suits from Margo's in Union, Missouri. The groom wore a white vest and bow tie to match the bride, and the other groomsmen wore either sage or soft pink vests and bow ties to match the bridesmaids.

Deven and Stephen exchanged vows at the Riverbend Chapel in Washington, Missouri. “We chose it because it’s a beautiful location on a bluff that overlooks the Missouri River,” Deven says. They loved the natural beauty of the outdoor ceremony and kept decor to a minimum as to not take away from it.

The couple kept their reception decor simple with white linens and blush and yellow linen napkins.

The couple enjoyed a three-tier white buttercream cake with pink peony sugar flowers and a silver heart topper. Inside it was vanilla with raspberry swirl.
