A Classic, Intimate Wedding at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, Connecticut
Alyssa Somes (29 and an operations manager) and Timothy Kellogg’s (30 and a youth pastor) wedding was all about understated elegance with a touch of whimsical, old-world charm. The day started with a traditional ceremony at Rocky Hill Congregational Church in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, Alyssa’s home parish. The church held plenty of sentimental meaning to Alyssa, who grew up and teaches Sunday school there. After exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their closest family members and friends, the couple hopped into the back of an antique Rolls-Royce and made their way to the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, Connecticut. The estate’s grandeur and extensive gardens are what captivated the couple and inspired many of their aesthetic decisions. To fit in with the space's traditional feel, they stuck to a sophisticated color scheme of cream, gray and black. Black urns and vintage mercury glass vases filled with baby’s breath, peonies and eye-catching anemones dotted the reception tables, adding texture and dimension to the stately space. The couple took a convivial approach to dinner, offering a selection of stations to tempt guests’ taste buds instead of a conventional sit-down affair. A photo booth and a selection of upbeat hits (“Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen” was a huge hit) played by DJ Rob Alberti kept guests entertained long into the evening. Gourmet Galley catering treated the newlyweds and their guests to late-night doughnuts and hot chocolate to keep the party going, and at the end of the evening Alyssa and Timothy sent guests home with organic chocolate bars that help support protection efforts of endangered species.
