A Classic, Intimate Wedding at Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano, California
Although it seems impossible to have an intimate wedding with a guest list of 400, the outdoor area at Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano, California, had a spacious terrace perfect for the romantic occasion. "As we were greeted by the lovely fountain, the arches and colors instantly reminded me of when Lan proposed to me in Italy," AnhThu Vo (32 and an educator) says of her marriage to Lan Pham (36 and a restaurateur). "It had a rustic, classic look, which was the perfect setting for our traditional yet fun-filled outdoor wedding." They envisioned having a classic wedding with a touch of romance, and did so through a red, gray and white palette—decorating everything from the perfectly round bouquet filled with ivory roses and peonies to the floor-length bridesmaid dresses in a deep red color—all captured on camera by D. Park Photography. The traditional ceremony took place at St. Boniface in Anaheim, California, where wooden pews were lined with white tulle and beads attached to lush hydrangea arrangements, thanks to the designing of Hilo Productions and planning of Mele Amore Events. On the terrace of Serra Plaza, guests were seated at round dining tables covered in white linens for the traditional Vietnamese-style eight-course dinner and dessert. Red rose centerpieces were placed inside tall glass vases or short black iron holders on the dining tables, which were positioned underneath hanging paper lanterns and string lights. Our stomachs were rumbling at the sight of the ivory four-tier wedding cake with textured patterns on each layer, topped with a Lego bride and groom. "I wanted a simple yet elegant wedding, so I would be able to enjoy the night with my husband," AnhThu says. "We had a wonderful time at our wedding and wanted our guests to have the same experience."
