A Classic Georgia Mansion Wedding at the Swan House at Atlanta History Center
Though London-based couple Stephanie Burke (33 and an HR partner at Harrods) and Chris Taggart (36 and an oil trader) live internationally, their destination wedding brought them stateside to Chris’s hometown. “Atlanta’s huge airport made travel as easy as possible for the 98 percent of our guests who were traveling,” the bride, who hails from St. Louis, says. Beyond convenience, the elegance of Swan House, located at the Atlanta History Center, attracted the chic pair. Stephanie paired dramatic heels with a sparkling headpiece, while Chris completed his look with grosgrain loafers. The bridal salon dubbed Stephanie's gown "the Pippa dress" for its demure sleeves and backless cut. Stephanie's sister and sisters-in-law each chose their own black or navy bridesmaid dress. Peonies, garden roses, ranunculus, scabiosa, jasmine, sweet peas, and amaranthus in saturated red and pink hues popped against the bride's black tuxedo bow tying the bouquet. After "I dos" on the front lawn atop a black-and-white rug (gifted to the couple for their new home), loved ones made their way to cocktail hour featuring dueling pianos. Amid all the glamour, the most treasured part of all was strolling back hand-in-hand to the St. Regis, the bride says. “It was so peaceful and fun as all of our friends flew by in cabs, honking horns and shouting, ‘Congratulations!’” Custom-built bars topped with lanterns, jet-black chairs and all-white linens created a modern, crisp reception setting.
