A Classic Garden Wedding at The Liriodendron Foundation in Bel Air, Maryland
Joyce Chan (26 and a marketing manager) and Raymond Chan’s (29 and an insurance broker) alfresco spring wedding was personalized from start to finish with references to their love of travel and picnics, and their Chinese heritage. “We had a few different themes, but they all relate to who we are,” Joyce says.
A romantic color scheme of rose gold, blush and gray tied the themes together, from the tablescapes to the bridesmaid dresses. The custom invites featured a pink floral design with rose gold polka dots and matching envelope liners.
Joyce wore a red, lace, mermaid-style gown from Hong Kong for their traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Raymond asked Joyce to be his girlfriend by throwing a paper airplane at her with “Will you be my girlfriend?” written on it, so the couple had guests throw paper airplanes during the recessional.
Escort cards and table signage featured different destinations, like Greece and Brooklyn, New York, that the jet-setting couple has visited together. For dinner and dancing, Joyce changed into her third dress of the night: a fun, flirty number with a crystal-embellished top and a flowy white skirt.
