A Classic, Garden-Inspired Wedding at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Margaret Hudson (27 and a healthcare finance consultant) and Gregory Mariani (27 and a technology startup consultant) met through mutual friends at UCLA. Gregory proposed at the spot where he first saw Margaret almost five years later. The couple decided to get married at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They loved the iconic old-American resort with its historic chapel, lakeside ballroom and mountain backdrop. “It was the perfect blend of tradition, hospitality and nature,” Margaret says. They used yellow as their main color (Margaret’s favorite) and accented it with shades of champagne, gold, green, peach and lavender. One of the best parts of the wedding was Margaret’s Ulla-Maija Couture sheath ivory and champagne lace wedding dress. She loved the elegant detailing over one shoulder and chapel-length all-lace train. The reception was in the Pompeiian Room and was decorated with tall garden-inspired topiaries filled with lemons. They wanted their reception to feel romantic, so they added soft gold and purple uplighting to the otherwise candlelit ballroom. Margaret and Gregory also gave guests little mementos from all of their favorite places: Ghiradelli chocolate (San Francisco, Margaret’s hometown and where the couple lives now); Brown Butter Sugar Cookies (Cayucos, where the couple spends their free weekends); Dewars chews (Bakersfield, Gregory’s hometown); UCLA reusable bag (where the couple met); Boulder Canyon chips and Coor’s Light (Colorado, the wedding location); Starbuck’s card (the corner where the couple met and Greg proposed). They also used the clever hashtag #justmarianied for guests to share on social media.
