A Classic Formal Wedding at the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids, MI

Glitzy decor along with a champagne and gold color scheme lent an opulent air to this bride and grooms classic ballroom nuptials. We hired "Hey Gorgeous Events" right away to take care of the wedding day details, says Maggie, 26, boutique owner of Renee Austin Wedding. Being around weddings on a daily basis, I knew exactly what I wanted.

"My gown was definitely not anything that was "in style", it was satin and had straps but I loved how it made me feel," Maggie says.
The bride wore silver Jimmy Choo heels that added just the right amount of shine. "It was exactly how I wanted to look, like a princess, but without the ball gown."
Everything matched, from the save the dates and the programs down to the escort cards done in elegant, gold calligraphy.
All twelve groomsmen went with a classic, formal look with tuxes from Bunny Tuxedos in Grandville, MI.
The entire bridal party (all 13 of them!) wore matching, floor-length dresses by Watters, Swarovski bracelets and champagne-colored studs.
The groom kept a classic look thanks to a black Dolce and Gabbana tuxedo paired with a simple black bowtie by Hugo Boss.
Maggie chose to stick to a simple color palette of all white for her bouquet; including roses, hydrangeas, peonies and orchids.
The Amway Grand Plaza set the scene for both the ceremony and the reception site. The short and sweet ceremony took place in the hotel's Paintlind Ballroom, while the reception was held in the venue's newly-renovated Ambassador Ballroom.
Large, white floral arrangements were placed at the altar with floating candles lining the length of the aisle. "What I loved about the ballroom was that it was an all-mirrored room with tons of gold details, so we could keep the dcor simple."
The simple escort cards were attached to a large, gold-framed mirror that bore the couple's initials.
Classic white flowers were scattered throughout the reception space.
The bride couldn't get enough of the ballroom's main focal point - a large, white tent situated in the center of the room with chandeliers hanging underneath.
Gold sequin and champagne-colored table linens added a touch of elegance to each table setting.
Mirrored vases filled with white peonies lined a white bookcase in the reception ballroom.
Maggie's favorite detail was the white tent complete with hanging chandeliers over the bridal-party table in the middle of the ballroom. "It became the main focal point and felt like we were at our own dinner party, plus, the table was lined with so many flowers!" she says.
Textured buttercream frosting covered their simple, tiered, round wedding cake that was topped with white flowers. As for the flavor? The couple went with a white wedding cake with raspberry filling as well as a classic chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache.
"When talking to the pastry chef (at the Amway Grand Plaza), he said he had gold sparkles he could add to the frosting to give it some color. I was so excited because that's exactly what I wanted," says Maggie.
A lush, round centerpiece made up of white roses, peonies and hydrangeas served as one of three focal points for each reception table.
"I loved that our venue was an all-mirrored room with ornate gold detailing," Maggie says. "It allowed us to keep the dcor simple, with white flowers and champagne linens, but I had to include a ton of crystals for additional sparkle."
