A Classic, Formal Wedding at Omni Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas
Cari Calvo (27 and a general surgery resident) and Steven Strube (28 and an air force navigator) are sweethearts from Texas A&M University. After their days in Aggieland, they started a long-distance relationship to pursue their dream careers. After five years of dating, Steven surprised Cari with a birthday visit just before he was scheduled to leave for a deployment, and asked her to be his wife and best friend forever. Their wedding ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, a historic Catholic cathedral in the heart of downtown Austin where Cari had always dreamed of getting married. The couple celebrated with a reception at the Omni Barton Creek Resort Country Club. The venue was the perfect mixture of traditional and Texas rustic charm that the couple was looking for, surrounded by the Texas Hill Country. The wedding colors of blush, ivory and gold created a classic and timeless atmosphere with a touch of Texas charm. “We were inspired by the timeless nature of our parents’ weddings,” says Cari. In lieu of a traditional guest book, Cari and Steven opted to have a fun card display where guests could share marriage advice, their favorite memories of the couple and suggestions for the couple’s next vacation or date night. At the end of the night, the couple surprised their guests with a late night snack of breakfast tacos with orange juice shooters and rode away on a golf cart.
