A Classic, Elegant Wedding at the Hobbs Building in Kansas City, Missouri
Esther Ahn (28 and works for a nonprofit) and Andy Lee (28 and a tax lawyer) wanted their wedding to feel classic and elegant, yet still approachable to fit their personalities. With the help of Lynn Henderson from Above and Beyond Weddings, Esther and Andy used an ivory and blush palette to balance the dark wood and industrial feel of the Hobbs Building in Kansas City, Missouri. The New York-based couple exchanged vows in Kansas because Esther was born and raised in the Sunflower State, and they loved being able to introduce their friends and family to the true Midwest. After their traditional nuptials at St. John's Methodist Church, the couple had an upbeat dance party with a live band, Lost Wax, for entertainment. “We loved that the band created its own mash-ups of popular songs and knew how to keep the party going and the crowd excited,” Esther says. One of our favorite details was the stunning floral arrangements from Ashlie Van Hoecke at Blue Bouquet. She combined textured blooms, like dahlias, with more classic choices, like roses, for a modern but classic look we can’t help but love.
