A Classic, Elegant Wedding at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois

Using elegant decor and a purple, navy and green color palette, Madeline Murphy (27 and a child life specialist) and Maxwell Schmitz (27 and a marketing director) held their wedding at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, where Madeline is a third-generation member. "My parents were married at Medinah Country Club, and I was thrilled to be able to carry on this tradition," Madeline says. The wedding-day photographer, Gerber Scarpelli Photography, captured the beautiful day, starting with the couple's traditional ceremony at the Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where Madeline's family belongs. Matching the classic, elegant wedding style, Madeline wore a Junko Yoshoika strapless, lace wedding dress. "It was simple and perhaps understated from a distance, but very intricate up close," she says. The formal dinner took place indoors at the Medinah Country Club, where tables were dressed in lavender tablecloths and decorated with purple and green centerpieces of roses, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and stock in alternating heights created by their florist, Elizabeth Wray Design. Adding a personal touch, Madeline and Max used wine-country-inspired elements, including wine work escort-card holders and wine-bottle candleholders, reflective of Max's Northern California roots. "Everything turned out beautifully," Madeline says. To get the party started after dinner, wedding guests were given maracas and tambourines on the tented dance floor. "This represented the typical 'roll the rug back' type of party frequently held at Max's parents' home, where they take out a closet full of instruments and sing and dance with friends," Madeline says.
