A Classic, Elegant Wedding at Arranmore Polo Club in Oswego, Illinois
Darlene and Michael chose Arranmore Polo Club for their September day. "The venue’s rolling green fields and vine-covered stables served as the perfect backdrop for our wedding," Darlene says. For décor, they decided on an “elegant garden” theme to complement the outdoor elements of the venue. Touches of white, light and dusty blue, green and gold tied everything together, from the formal invitation suite to the reception linens. The ceremony was supposed to take place next to a willow tree, but due to thunderstorms, the couple moved it into a sailcloth tent. "There’s something incredibly whimsical, romantic and timeless about a tented wedding," Darlene says. "It doesn’t require a lot of work to make a sailcloth tent look beautiful." Flower arrangements stood on either side of the couple, who stunned in an off-the-shoulder lace ball gown and classic tuxedo. The entire wedding party changed into traditional Hmong attire during cocktail hour. For the reception, which took place in a different tent, "we used this really gorgeous white and blue patterned linen that helped set the tone for the rest of the décor," Darlene says. Other impressive items included light blue water goblets, hand-painted table numbers, laser-cut wood place cards and greenery-filled centerpieces. A greenery ring with white blooms also hung above the stately dance floor, where the couple shared a first dance to “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers.
