A Classic, Elegant Pastel Wedding at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Virginia
The venue’s historic elegance inspired Cassidy Lawson (28 and works in public relations) and Nick Scala (30 and an attorney) to include romantic floral arrangements and gold accents. “The Homestead married the Southern hospitality I grew up with along with a mountain setting, which catered to Nick’s outdoor interests,” Cassidy says.
“We wanted a venue where our guests could be in one place,” Cassidy says of the Homestead.
With the Allegheny Mountains in the backdrop, Cassidy and Nick kept ceremony decorations minimal. The couple exchanged vows under a birch pergola adorned with spring blooms and greenery. The couple’s hexagon monogram and lace honeycomb pattern on the stationery were nods to the bride’s love of bees. “Bumblebees have always been part of my style,” she says.
“I remember seeing the gorgeous setting of Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains and having a feeling it was the one,” Cassidy says of first visiting their venue.
Cassidy tied her great-grandmother’s handkerchief and a bumblebee brooch around her bouquet.
The ring bearer, Nick’s cousin Cole, sported polka dot suspenders to coordinate with the groomsmen. “He had fun running down the aisle with a pendant saying ‘here comes the bride’ on the front (and ‘hooray’ on the back) — especially thanks to the gummy bears stashed in the groom’s pocket,” Cassidy says.
Instead of a grand ceremony exit, the newlyweds, along with their guests, danced to a brass band on the way to the cocktail hour on the property.
For the reception in the chandelier-filled ballroom, tables were adorned with dusty-blue linens, romantic lace runners, gold-rimmed chargers and gold candelabras. To honor Nick’s Italian heritage, the couple thanked guests with miniature bottles of limoncello and tags reading “grazie.”
