A Classic DIY Wedding at The Margarita at Pine Creek in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Alison Kennedy (30 and a psychologist) and Shaun Kennedy (31 and a correctional officer) met online. Five years later, he proposed. “We had just got home from going out to dinner and were siting at our dining room table talking,” Alison says. “All of a sudden I turned to him, and he was down on one knee. He had the ring in his hand and he said, ‘Do you want to get married?’ It was so simple, but I was completely caught off guard. I just remember I jumped onto him, knocking him onto the floor. I was so surprised and so happy!”The couple was inspired by their venue, The Margarita at Pine Creek in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is a family-owned restaurant with both indoor and outdoor options. “It was such a cozy, unique spot,” Alison says. “We wanted it to feel comfortable and inviting as if we were having everyone over to our own home.” They chose blue and red for the day with DIY details such as the handmade table clothes the bride’s mother made and the paper flower napkin rings the bride’s sisters made. But, the best part of the day was the food! From the Bride: “One of the reasons we picked our venue was because of their fabulous food,” she says. “We had a buffet-style dinner and it was awesome. We went less traditional with our cake and served miniature bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes (Shaun's favorite cakes). Our party favors at the end of the night were boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts.”
