A Classic Destination Wedding With a Hint of Glam at a Private Residence in Honolulu, Hawaii
Intimacy is felt at the backyard of this private estate called Beachfront Oasis in Honolulu, Hawaii, surrounded by waterfront views and tropical foliage that serves as the perfect backdrop for a romantic destination wedding. "We wanted to be married on the ocean, but we also wanted it have the feeling of a simple, private backyard ceremony, since we were having a small wedding," Krista Forster (41 and an actress) says of her marriage to Rey Zaragoza (39 and a staff sergeant in the US Army). Krista found her wedding dress the first time she visited David's Bridal, which was a strapless trumpet-style gown accented with intricate lace beading, captured on camera by MeewMeew Studios. She paired the elegant gown with a white fabric flower, embellished in beads, pinned to the side of her updo hairstyle. Cherished in Hawaii Weddings helped plan the ceremony, which took place in the backyard, where white and purple paper lanterns were strung over guests seated in white folding chairs. Dining tables dressed in white iridescent crush tablecloths added a romantic touch to the reception decor, in addition to the centerpieces filled with pink and white roses arranged inside gold mercury glass vases. One of our favorite details? The gold "Love" topper perched on top of the classic white wedding cake says it all, with each tier wrapped in gold at the bottom. "Our main concern was we wanted to spend time with the people we cherish and not just see them one or two days in Hawaii for the wedding," Krista says. "We wanted to share our love of the island with them, and get to relax and enjoy it together."
