A Classic Church Wedding in New Albany, Indiana

After meeting in high school through mutual friends, Theresa (29 and a visual art educator) and Chase (30 and an insurance agent), dated before getting engaged in front of a park fountain in Savannah, Georgia. "We were on vacation and Chase asked a passerby to take a video in front of the fountain before getting down on one knee," Theresa explains. "Looking back, I should have been curious as to why he wanted a video instead of a photo!" The couple chose to wed in a traditional ceremony at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Albany in front of 225 guests. "Not only were several members of Chase's family married there, but his grandfather was the priest at that church for a long time," Theresa explains. For the reception and flower arrangements, the bride chose a palette of gray and yellow mixed with pops of cream and green for extra color. "We used tons of candles at the reception to lend a dark, romantic feel to the space," she explains. But it was the couple's first dance, not their decor, that was the standout of the night: "We took dance lessons for about six weeks leading up to the wedding," Theresa explains. "We learned how to rumba and our first dance was to 'Stand By Me' by Ben E. King. It was a great bonding experience because we got to relax and have fun while learning something new together, plus we practiced every night in our basement in the two weeks before the wedding. I'll never forget that first dance."
