A Classic Black-Tie Wedding at Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club in Rumson, New Jersey
When planning their wedding, Alexis Harrison (a vice president at Goldman Sachs) and Michael Jones (an associate at 3G Capital) drew inspiration from their reception venue: Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club. "We were looking for a venue that felt understated yet elegant, and different from a Manhattan wedding," Alexis says. "I grew up playing tennis there with my family. There's something magical about it—a throwback in time." Guests headed to the reception after a ceremony at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Manhattan. They sipped cocktails and ate hors d'oeuvres on the club's grass tennis courts while listening to a jazz ensemble. At the reception, arrangements of pale pink flowers and greenery stole the show, and the couple also had a flower wall covered in moss that mimicked the grass courts. Over the dance floor hung an enormous flower installation that the couple says "took guests' breaths away." Tennis-inspired decorations tied the whole look together.
Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: "One of my favorite moments of the night was when we got my 88-year-old grandmother into the middle of the dance floor for 'Shout' with all of my friends and family surrounding her, singing and dancing. She totally killed it and was having more fun than we were. It was a moment I'll never forget," the bride says.
