A Classic Black-and-White Wedding at The East Miami Hotel in Florida
Patrick Gevas and Jose Vega's modern, luxurious wedding took place at The East Miami Hotel. "We've always felt nontraditional, so we set out to create something that was inclusive and representative of the celebration of the two of us coming together," Patrick says. "With some of Jose's family coming from Bogota and mine from all over the country, we thought Miami was the perfect place." The 39th-floor hotel venue, with its stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, was decorated in a black-and-white color palette. Votives created soft and romantic lighting throughout the space, while submerged orchid arrangements added simple elegance. Tall candles also lit up the black-and-white reception tables. Both men wore black pants and white dinner jackets, but Jose opted for a peak lapel while Patrick chose a shawl collar. Their nieces and nephews were also a central part of their wedding. "We had custom sweatsuits made for them, which were a big hit," the grooms say. "The shirts had a cartoon of both of our faces with '2 Grooms are better than 1' screen printed. The hoodies read 'Team Grooms' on the back, and they looked amazing in the photos!"
Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: "From a cultural standpoint, we wanted to blend Greek and Colombian cultures in a fun way and found the best way to do that was through booze," the grooms say. "We brought in aguardiente for Colombia and mastiha to represent Greece."
