A Classic Ballroom Wedding at Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, California

Rainbow bow ties for the men and neutrals for bridesmaid dresses and flower arrangements were Arlene Huyhn (30 and a optometrist) and Steve Azeoka’s (32 and an occupational therapist) only color requirements, yet this classic ballroom wedding couldn’t have blended together any better. “It’s amazing that we really had no concrete color scheme, yet everything ended up mismatching perfectly,” Arlene says. The laid-back yet elegant wedding celebration took place at Balboa Bay Resort, a luxury hotel on the waterfront in Newport Beach, California. At the outdoor ceremony, the couple shared their first kiss at the metal archway covered in a plentiful amount of hydrangeas, roses and leaves, captured by Ahava Studios. The reception took place inside the ballroom of the venue, where guests were seated at long dining tables dressed in white tablecloths and decorated with overflowing wildflower centerpieces on tall gold candelabras, arranged by the Bloom of Time. Neutral-colored rose, hydrangea and eucalyptus arrangements were wrapped with long ivory linens and tied to wooden chiavari chairs, fitting with the tablescape look at large. In our opinion, the icing on the cake of this romantic occasion was quite literal -- the buttercream two-tiered wedding cake with textured buttercream surface, decorated with fresh flowers and perched on a silver stand, to be exact. “Honestly, I think it was just the casual, continuous flow of music, dancing and food,” Arlene says. “We minimized a lot of formalities, and it was truly all about having fun and celebrating together.”
