A City Chic Wedding at Salvage One in Chicago, Illinois

“City chic” is how Molly Jenkins (28 and a consultant) and Paul Bockwoldt (34 and a strategist) describe their urban, rustic Chicago wedding at Salvage One. “I have been told a million times how cool and unique the venue was,” says Molly, who adored the antique store’s exposed brick, wood floors, mismatched vintage furniture and wide views of the Chicago skyline. The Smitten Bride helped the couple create a romantic atmosphere in the eclectic space, with myriad candles, lanterns and chandeliers illuminating the ceremony space and reception. “It is a very interesting space,” says Molly, “so I decided to keep the character of the venue.” For their first dance, Molly and Paul selected “Equal in My Tea” by Bhi Bhiman for a funny, upbeat twist on tradition. Since the wedding was in winter, the couple provided their guests with a hot chocolate bar complete with peppermint sticks, chocolate shavings, whipped cream and marshmallows. At the end of the night, guests were drinking energy beverages and snacking on cupcakes and sweets from a “his & hers” candy bar to keep the dancing going. “Our wedding was all about having fun and celebrating our marriage,” says Molly. “We really just wanted everyone to dance, laugh and sing, and we accomplished that.” See the details captured by Nick Edmunson Imaging below.
