A Citrus-Filled Wedding at Tavares Pavilion on the Lake in Florida
Megan and Eric capitalized on their Florida wedding locale by incorporating ample citrus elements throughout the day. From oranges accenting the couple's wedding cakes to orange-hued flowers used in abundance, the whole day was an elegant nod Floridian beauty. Megan recalls that her friend, "on seeing the place said that it was 'classic old Florida,' and from there our theme was born. We loosely started with navy, gold, and white as a color palette. For florals, we wanted lots of tropical greenery, citrus accents (kumquats in my bouquet and Eric's bout for size), with pops of color for accent to continue to Florida tropical theme."
Beyond incorporating plenty of citrus into their orange-centric wedding day, Megan and Eric also prioritized nods to their heritage at the celebration. Megan's, "family is from Jamaica and my mom baked Jamaican rum cake, which for special occasions is decorated with fondant. My mom had never worked with fondant before, but after a couple practice runs in the months before, the cakes she made for the wedding were beautiful (and topped with greenery from trees from our backyard). We made sure to cut into her cake first together. For entertainment for the reception, for a Caribbean family it was super important that we had a dance party with lots of reggae, and that's exactly what we did. There was also a festival going on in the park next door to the venue, so throughout cocktail hour and dinner there were fireworks and even an air show that we had a great view of from outside on the venue pier and inside through the floor to ceiling windows set out over the lake."
