For their wedding in Detroit, Melissa and John Kim were inspired to create an atmosphere that felt like a cozy dinner party in their home. The bride describes their vision as "warm, romantic and modern with traditional elements mixed in." The day started with a religious ceremony at Ste. Anne de Detroit Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. Melissa stunned in an A-line ivory dress with illusion straps and a tulle skirt, which she paired with a satin bow tied at the waist and a cathedral-length veil. John sported a custom satin lapel black tuxedo with a single-breasted one button jacket. After the ceremony, guests attended a romantic and industrial loft reception. String lights and romantic flower arrangements wowed all of the guests—and so did the escort card display with glass bottles containing personalized messages from the couple. Other memorable elements included modern farm tables, pink linens and textured flower arrangements. The newlyweds also served a blood orange olive oil wedding cake hand-painted with an abstract design in various shades of pink.
