A Chic Winter Wedding at Hotel Donaldson in Fargo, North Dakota
Inspired by their shared love of New York City and everything Gatsby, Kelsey Schultz (30 and a dental assistant) and Dave Schultz (32 and a professional golfer) braved the cold to plan a glam winter wedding like only true North Dakotans can. "New York City is special to us since it's the first place we traveled to together," Kelsey says. "But after lots of thought, we stayed in Fargo to include more people in our special day." Despite the harsh December weather, the couple were determined to plan a fete that was aesthetically different from any other wedding they'd attended. "We thought it would be fun to have our reception at the Hotel Donaldson—a really cool, boutique hotel in downtown Fargo," Kelsey says. "The venue won us over because it was so different from most barns and regular ballrooms in the area." Dressed in a white lace dress topped with a much-needed fur wrap, the bride and her groom exchanged vows at the Holy Cross Catholic Church before treating guests to a food-filled cocktail hour in lieu of a sit-down dinner. There, the couple's 250 guests snacked on bison burger sliders, crunchy french fries and Kelsey and Dave's signature cocktail, coined the DK Delight. "We got the recipe from Del Frisco's in New York the last time we were there because we loved it so much," Kelsey says. One detail we especially loved? The newlyweds' decision to travel to their reception via a trolley in true 1920s fashion. "We did our best to soak up every moment of the day and wish we could do it all over again," Kelsey says.
