A Chic Red Wedding at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield in Littleton, Colorado
Using a bold red palette, Christen Garthe (26 and a culinary school assistant) and Zac Garthe (28 and a lawyer) had a chic wedding we can't help but love. “The overall theme for our wedding was inspired by JRR Tolkien and what we imagined a hobbit wedding to be,” Christen says. “We wanted our wedding to feel magical, like our guests were stepping into a fantasy for a couple of hours.” Christen and Zac spent hours crafting every detail of their wedding, from the honey treat escort cards to the red thistle boutonnieres and the vintage centerpieces. Although the couple didn’t plan to have a wedding planner, Christen's mother got them a day-of coordinator as a gift. “I had spent months creating, crafting and fantasizing the perfect day, and putting it all together myself would have meant not fully enjoying the day,” Christen says. “Luckily, we found Amanda Hoang from the Gardner Effect, and she was absolutely brilliant.” One of our favorite details was the delicious food! Since Christen is an aspiring chef, the menu was one of the most important parts. “Epicurean was perfect in allowing us to showcase a variety of foods with an artisanal touch,” Christen says. They even had an oyster shucker who walked around shucking oysters for guests. There are so many details we love—see them all, beautifully captured by Connie Whitlock Photography, below.
