A Chic Pink Reception at the White Magnolia in Kentwood, Louisiana
Kiley Wolfe and Josh Taylor were legally married in a private elopement-style ceremony at the Austin, Texas, courthouse. Eight months later, they planned a reception for friends and family near Kiley's childhood home in Louisiana. They gave a nod to Texas with a watercolor cactus design on their invitations, as well as a Texas-inspired reception theme. "The rustic nature of the surrounding woods combined beautifully with our Austin music-festival-chic theme," the couple says. "We incorporated bright vibrant colors and a lot of music elements—like cassette tapes in lieu of seating cards and streamer-accented tambourines for the dance floor." The color pink showed up everywhere from the patterned tablecloths to the eclectic wedding cake, and Kiley also chose pink roses for her bouquet and flower crown. The design of the event space—the White Magnolia—combined rustic touches with a modern aesthetic. "Traditional elements like the barn chandeliers and flowers struck a balance with the casual seating options and pops of color to create a scene that was neither formal nor informal," the couple says.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: Due to their shared love of music, the couple added unexpected musical details throughout the reception. "As soon as guests entered the venue, they were greeted with vintage 8-tracks instead of seating cards," the couple says. "If people got too hot dancing up a storm with their light-up tambourines, they could take a break at the 'taco and tunes' station and enjoy a delicious frozen Choco Taco treat and grab an old-school mixed-CD loaded with a sampling of our favorite artists that my husband spent hours curating."
