A Chic Metallic Wedding at the Hay-Adams in Washington, DC
A white and gold palette was accented by soft, blush tones and a touch of gray for the wedding of Lauren Mulvey (29 and a catering sales manager) and Daniel Okonkwo (41 and an executive director) at the Hay-Adams in Washington, DC. "The key to pulling off an event with a mostly white color scheme is utilizing various textures to make sure none of the elements fall flat," planner Lauryn Prattes says. Soft white flowers paired with glamorous white sequin table linens looked anything but boring. "Every single detail of this wedding—right down to the card box—was chosen with care," Prattes says. "It's really important to take your time and choose details you really love, and don't be afraid to mix and match elements." In the end, all the little components came together for a perfect combination of romance, whimsy and personality without feeling over-the-top. "Balance and restraint is the key to a successful event," Prattes adds. No stranger to the wedding industry, Lauren had a serious leg up and started assembling her "dream team" of pros immediately after getting engaged. A longtime fan of Elan Artists, Lauren had her heart set on the band the Source and knew they would keep her dance floor packed all night. Next, she turned to Bill Enright of Edge Floral Event Designers to create soft, romantic flowers, and then to Prattes to pull it all together.
