A Chic Lowcountry Summer Wedding at Boone Hall Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina
For their summer "I dos," Casey Nowak and Brenden Goldman planned a sophisticated soiree with undeniable Lowcountry flair.
When it came to choosing a location, the pair could think of no better place than Charleston, South Carolina: Casey was an alumnus of the College of Charleston, and Brenden had always loved visiting the charming Southern city. The couple played up the locale’s best assets by hosting the entire affair at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall Plantation, which overlooked the Charleston River and the lush green landscape beyond.
A color palette of cream, blush and green paired effortlessly with natural wood touches that lent the affair a chic, laid-back vibe. Personalized elements were woven throughout, many of which were created by Casey and Brenden themselves, including a custom-made cascading light installation that hung over the head table at dinner. Casey’s mom, an artist and art teacher, made small oil paintings of the surrounding marsh for each guest, and her brother created an illustration of Cotton Dock, as well as a custom guest book. Family friend and acclaimed baker Heidi Vukov whipped up a decadent hand-painted confection for the couple to cut during the reception.
