Canada natives Hillary Field (29 and an associate marketing manager) and Andrew Macdonald (32 and a regional general manager) traveled to Savannah to say “I do” under Spanish moss–covered oak trees in an elegant, alfresco celebration marked by green and gold accents.

“I was inspired by the natural beauty of the plantation,” Hillary says of their venue, which sits on 1,800 lush acres. “I liked the idea of a destination wedding in a city that most of our guests had never visited but were intrigued by.”

The bride’s grandfather officiated as Hillary and Andrew sealed the deal in front of 180 guests.

“We let nature do a lot of the heavy lifting from a décor standpoint,” Hillary says of having to do little to play up the plantation’s perfectly manicured lawn. Gold flatware and personalized agate slices spruced up each place setting, where fresh sprigs of seeded eucalyptus were tucked into dinner napkins.

Inspired by Hillary and Andrew’s custom watercolor invitations, the couple’s baker added fresh dahlias and a hand-painted tier to the lemon-blueberry-flavored confection. Additional indulgences included homemade peach cobbler and fried chicken as a nod to their Southern-style fete.

Partygoers sipped bubbly and bourbon on the estate’s lawn overlooking the Ogeechee River.
