A Chic Garden Wedding at Castle Cliff Estates in Sedalia, Colorado

Loving all things French, Sara Smith (29 and a wedding planner) and Scott Saueressig (29 and a management consultant) decided to have an outdoor garden wedding full of chic details. Nicole English-Brownlie worked with the couple to ensure their vision of the day was flawlessly brought to life. They decided on a natural blush and ivory color palette, and kept the attire classic such as the black-and-white groomsmen tuxedos and Sara’s stunning A-line wedding dress. They chose Castle Cliff Estates in Sedalia, Colorado, for their nuptials because of its breathtaking views of green pastures and the Rocky Mountains. “Behind the estate were beautifully terraced gardens in addition to the natural Colorado flora,” Scott says. “Sara fell in love with the vintage French feel of the place. Luckily, our venue played into the vintage French look so well, we didn’t have to add much to it.” Caroline Colvin Photography beautifully captured all the details of the day. The couple added some DIY projects to their wedding, too, for a little personalization. They made all the stationery themselves and bought their delicious Chantilly cakes (Sara’s favorite) from Whole Foods. “This is special because now, every year for our anniversary, we can go to Whole Foods and get our wedding cake,” Scott says. Wanting to add a piece of home to the menu, Scott’s parents brought some Spotted Cow beer from New Glarus, Wisconsin (his hometown). At the end of the night, guests went home with French macarons (perfect for the French-inspired wedding) in three flavors, to match the wedding colors. But the best part of the wedding, according to Sara and Scott, was their family. “The best element was easily having our daughter, Nora, be a special part of the day. In addition to being our flower girl, she was able to take photos and help us celebrate by eating with us before she retired for the evening.”
