A Chic Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in San Antonio, Texas

Whitney Terilli (30 and an alumni relations manager) and Peter Terilli (31 and an international tax manager) decided pretty quickly that they would get married in Whitney’s hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Whitney envisioned an outdoor casual, chic reception in her parents’ yard underneath the large oak trees, and Caroline Events helped make her vision a reality. “My inspiration was to have a modern-day ‘Father of the Bride’ wedding. I love the part in the movie when you see the inside of the tent all lit up for the first time,” Whitney says. The flowers were the most important detail for her, and touches from Sweet Magnolia Floral Studio—including Whitney’s lush bouquet and eucalyptus leaves draped over the newlywed chairs—created a naturally romantic atmosphere. Their wedding was full of music: A mariachi band kicked off their cocktail hour, followed by the Night Owls band at the reception—and they definitely stole the show. (Whitney booked them based on a recommendation, and she still gets compliments.) The standout detail? Definitely the wedding cake. “Peter and I sat down together to come up with tons of words that had special meaning to us and our relationship. It was anything from places we traveled together to inside jokes or special sayings.” Cakes by Cathy Young included those words all over the five-tier cake.
