A Cheerful Southern Wedding at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club on Pawleys Island, South Carolina
A mutual friend tried to set Amalie Harris (32 and pediatric speech-language pathologist) up with Jason Burr (40 and owner and CEO of First Service Solutions Inc.) but the timing was wrong. Five years later, she tried again and this time Amalie and Jason went on their first date. Their relationship quickly progressed over the summer but Jason waited over three years before popping the question during a beachside walk with their dog. Despite living in North Carolina, Amalie and Jason decided to plan their wedding where they had their fist kiss and got engaged: in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. With the help of Amalie's mother (who also happens to be a florist!) they planned an October soiree at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club. The ceremony took place in a space that Caledonia calls Azalea Row under a “hallway” of live oak trees with Spanish moss hanging down and an iron backdrop. Charming picnic tables, hanging lanterns and a pale color scheme brought Amalie and Jason’s casual vintage soiree to life. For a rustic flair, the couple combined burlap with chevron table runners and hung lanterns from the oak trees, which was the bride’s favorite d?cor piece. "My bouquet and the groom's boutonniere each included a single gardenia bud that we believe my grandmother sent to us from heaven," says Amalie. "Why else would our gardenia bush have just two buds in October?"
